Gangagen Biotechnologies to Produce Bacteriophage Products

The Bangalore-based company has received two US patents for its phage technologies. Company president J. Ramachandran told reporters that GBPL had already demonstrated the efficacy and safety of its first phage product to control e.coli 0157 in cattle, and that regulatory approval should come in 2006.

GBPL is also working with Lallemand, a major animal feed distributor in Europe and South America, to develop phage products to control Salmonella infections in poultry and pigs.
