Salad Mixes May Be Infected With Cyclospora Parasite, Sez FDA

I was just talking about this in my previous post. Now the FDA weighs in on tainted pre-mixed salads, saying that mixes containing basil and mesclun may harbor the Cyclospora parasite, which causes fever, diarrhea, vomiting -- all the fun stuff. The FDA is checking into outbreaks in Illinois and Texas restaurants that occurred in February.

The job of tracking down the malicious mixes has been made more difficult by the fact that these food poisoning symptoms take about a week to show up.
