Alcohol Rub To Help Combat Hospital Superbugs

www.theage.com.au: "The risk of hospital patients contracting infections could be dramatically reduced by a new alcohol-based hand rub.

"The University of Geneva's head of infection control, Didier Pittet, said yesterday the rub's introduction at one Swiss hospital had reduced the number of patients contracting 'superbugs' by more than 50 per cent in the past 10 years."

Well, this is good news. Let's just hope hospitals start handing this out to the doctors in particular -- they're the ones most likely *not* to wash their hands between patients, according to studies.
