Probiotics to Prevent Travel Bugs

The Telegraph has some tips for travelers hoping to avoid picking up a stomach or intestinal disease while traveling, and they include taking bacteria -- the good kind, that is:

"I recommend taking a probiotic capsule every day for two weeks before, during and after the holiday, plus antibacterial, anti-parasite, antifungal drops, such as grapefruit seed extract, and a multivitamin, says Ian Marber, the Food Doctor.

"A thriving colony of good bacteria in your gut makes it harder for bad bugs to become established," says Susan Curtis, a natural medicine expert at Neal's Yard Remedies Therapy Rooms in London. "I take BioCare Travelguard capsules, which contain a probiotic, garlic and antiseptic herbs, to help maintain intestinal health and fight off bugs."
