Japanese Probiotic Bacteria Shown to Prevent Atopic Dermatitis

If you're like me (and I know I am!), you're familiar with the itching and scaling of atopic dermatitis -- skin rashes for which there is no identifiable cause. Japan's Kirin Brewery has developed a new probiotic bacteria strain, Lactobacillus paracasei KW3110, that both prevent the occurrence of atopic dermatitis and improve symptoms in existing atopic dermatitis.

Kirin's bacteria strain was reportedly more effective at combating the rashes than Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, which has already been shown to act against similar skin conditions. No word yet on what products may be developed to use the KW3110 strain.
