Fight Bad Breath with (Unsweetened!) Yogurt

Japanese researchers report that eating yogurt -- sugar-free yogurt, that is -- can reduce the bacteria that cause bad breath. Subjects in their six-week yogurt study also had lower levels of plaque and the gum disease gingivitis, after eating a quantity of yogurt every day for the six-week period.

The yogurt used by the research team contained the probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. No word, unfortunately, on whether the results would be similar with the typical, highly sweetened yogurts found in supermarkets.
