Antibacterial Chewing Gum Being Developed
The US Army is working with Dr. Patrick DeLuca at the University of Kentucky to develop a chewing gum that will kill the bacteria found in oral plaque. The Army is looking to help frontline troops who may not have time or means to brush and floss in the field. However, antibacterial gum would benefit everyone, and possibly help reduce the incidence of heart disease as well as tooth cavities and gum disease.
