Water in 2 Mid-sized US Cities Hosting Coliform Bacteria

Officials in Springfield, MA and Syracuse, NY are trying to figure out why their municipal water supplies recently tested positive for coliform bacteria -- E. coli, in Syracuse's case.

Syracuse mayor Matt Driscoll is asking the NY state health department to double-check the water tests; he's incredulous that the water drawn from nearby Skaneateles -- one of the famed Finger Lakes, so pure Syracuse is not required to filter the water -- could be contaminated.

I wrote this post just so you would try to pronounce "Skaneateles."

(Try "skinny-atlas" -- that's pretty close.) =;-D
